Kalamansi Juice Recipe | Cold or Warm

Kalamansi juice is one of the favourite drinks that you will find in the Philippines, whether it is a snack or a drink. The combination of water with sugar and kalamansi extract is delicious. Kalamansi is sour, so it depends on how much sugar you add to counter the sour taste. Some people like a sweet flavor, but for me, it's ok to just have a little sweetness and still taste the sourness of the kalamansi.

How to Make Kalamansi Juice:

It's simple to make lime juice; you just need the following ingredients.

1. Fresh Kalamansi -about three pieces.

2. Water-about 1.5 cups or almost full in the glass.

3. Sugar—2 tbsp (white or brown sugar, depending on preference you can add more spoons).

This is how to mix and make Kalamansi juice.

1. Cut off the top of the kalamansi; others prefer to divide it in the middle.

2. In the empty glass, squeeze the Kalamansi.  (If you don't want to mix its seeds, you can use a strainer, but for me it tastes better with lime pulp.)

3. Stir in the sugar with a spoon to combine the kalamansi and sugar.

4. Continue to mix the juice with water.

5. Serve with ice or, if desired, lukewarm by adding a little lukewarm water to the previous step.

White or Brown Sugar?

There is a difference in the taste of Kalamansi juice when you use white sugar or brown sugar. You will taste the lime better if you use white sugar as the sweetener. On the other hand, if it is brown sugar, the result will be sweeter and you will notice that the colour of your juice will change to a little brown. But for diabetic people, it is recommended not to mix sugar with kalamansi juice.

What is the difference in taste when cold and warm water are used?

Cold water is usually used in kalamansi juice by many Pinoys. Sometimes it is even mixed with ice, especially when the weather is hot during the summer in the Philippines. It is delicious to prepare lime juice if it has ice and pair it with banana queue. But if you feel something in your throat that seems to soar, you can also add lukewarm water to the kalamansi juice. This will help relieve the irritation in your throat. Luke' warm water is also good when it's the rainy season in the Philippines because it's good to suck the juice that is warm when the breeze is cold.
